UNHCR Ankara Field Office (AFU) Coordination Meeting

UNHCR Ankara Field Office (AFU) Coordination Meeting

UNHCR Ankara Field Office (AFU) Coordination Meeting

Muhammet Gül, the Chairman of the Board of the Afghanistan Hazaras Culture and Solidarity Association (AHCSA), and board member Mehdi Muhebbi attended the 2024 evaluation meeting organized by the UNHCR Ankara Field Office (AFU), where they exchanged views on the refugee crisis in Turkey. The meeting focused in detail on the challenges and needs faced by refugees, particularly those living in the Black Sea region.

Gül stated that with the increasing number of rejection decisions by migration authorities, refugees were becoming desperate and resorting to dangerous migration routes by sea, risking their lives to leave Turkey illegally. He also drew attention to the difficulties refugees in the region faced in accessing education and healthcare services. Gül emphasized that AHCSA would continue to work with local and international organizations to find solutions to these problems.

Mustafa Şahin Fırat, the UNHCR Ankara Field Office Director, provided information about the general challenges faced by refugees in Turkey and the organization’s ongoing work. The parties agreed to cooperate to find common solutions and improve the living conditions of refugees.

This important meeting once again demonstrated the commitment of both AHCSA and UNHCR to the refugee crisis. AHCSA will continue to be the voice of refugees in the Black Sea region and strive for a better future for them.”
